DIY - SHOESIES

Spent the last hour drawing concentric circles on a pair of $8 shoes from target. I documented the project on Instagram, and a lot of my followers seemed to like it, so I thought I would share it here on Unknown Pleasures!

It's a pretty simple process..

You will need:
White sand shoes/sneakers
Marker
Patience
A pattern you wish to use or you can recreate my concentric circles

The How To:

1. Begin with drawing a few concentric circles on the outer edges. Make sure they're medium size. If you do them too small then you will find it too tedious and too hard to leave a gap between lines...But if you do them too big the effect you are going for just won't be right

2.Once you've done a few on the outer edges you can begin to fill in the spaces with concentric circles. There is no "right way", but I would suggest you alternate the direction of each concentric circle each time you draw. I also think a mixture between 3 to 4 lines looks best (any more takes up too much room).

3.Continue the pattern until all canvas is covered. It will take sometime, but the pattern doesn't need to be "perfect". Be patient, you actually find that the end product no matter if you manage to screw it up will look rad, as there isn't any real focal point!

Good Luck!!

Have an amazing weekend beauties, Ally oxox

Photo Diary - Angourie

Some of my favourite photos from our weekend away. So many more to sift through. I hope you enjoy looking through them as much as we have. The town we stayed in in called Angourie - North Coast of New South Wales. The house we rented our was the raddest cottage and it was super close to the beach. I really hope we can stay there again, especially now it holds such an amazing memory. WOOOO, fun times!

Happy, Happy Tuesday! XX

Big News

If you follow me on IG, then this blog post comes as no surprise to you. But for those of you who don't...This one's for you and for me, as this blog is a diary of my life, and I have no doubt I'll be wanting to look back at this post.

I, WE, GOT ENGAGED!!

I haven't been able to stop smiling since Saturday night when my now fiancé, Jonathan, proposed to me. I even woke up at 6am this morning, like a kid on Christmas morning, because I am so over the moon/ hypo / hypo / hypo. Jonathan is so cute and has been in the same mood as well.

I've got a lot of photos and stories to share, but for now, here is a pic of me and my engagement ring. It's off to get re-sized - I have ridiculously small fingers, and it has to be sent away as it had to be re-sized by SIX sizes. My ring is a vintage/antique ring - It's my "placeholder ring". We will be designing a ring together!!! How exciting is that? I am really looking forward to such a wonderful experience. What an awesome experience to share together. I'll be wearing this baby til we finalise ideas etc!

Did I mention I am SO HAPPY. Oh My Gosh

I can't believe I now have legit reasons to look at wedding blogs, wedding dresses, hair styles etc...Even though the wedding will be a while off, it's so bloody exciting to think about!!

Lots of love all around, Ally xoxo

It's mine and Jonathan's FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY tomorrow! Amazing right? Still feels like we only just met, but at the same time it's like we've know each other for years because we're the best of friends. I'll spare you all the lovey dovey crap, because It's personal and something you wouldn't find interesting to read anyway!

We're heading away for for a few days and I'm sure if you follow me on IG (allymaycarey) you'll get countless updates over the weekend! And I am taking my Diana so i'll do a photo update later on. Where we are staying is SO AMAZING!!!

Splendour In The Grass Photo Diary

Okay so I just learned something...I have no self control when it comes to photo diary posts!! So apologies if the amount of photos left you scrolling for days.

As most of you'd know Liss from Daydream Lily and I were Guest Bloggers for Element Eden at Splendour this year. It was so amazing in every way possible. We had a ball!! So much to do, eat and see. It was truly an amazing time.

Now for the sad part of the story...I shot the entire time on 120 film...I sent it away to get developed and something went haywire. THE NEGS WERE BLANK. Can you imagine my devastation when I found this out today?! I have been waiting 2, nearly 3 weeks for my photos, and they tell me today there was nothing on the film. What's annoying is it was all wound on etc, so I'm not too sure what happened. They're giving me a refund, so I guess that counts for something? It's so upsetting cos the pics would have been so amazing. But I guess there is nothing I can do now.

These photos are from my iPhone. How lucky are we to have such amazing technology literally at our finger tips. If I didn't have a decent camera on my phone I would have been screwed. So, thank you Apple.

The Element Eden stall was so gorgeously decorated with flowers and a vintage theme. Pia (Element's superstar marketing girl) and the girls put in so much effort to get their stall looking so amazing. The little touches such as the free face painting and fuji instax postcard memories they were offering were such a hit!! So rad.

A big thank you to Pia and Element Eden for the great opportunity. You guys rock.

Check out Element Eden's Facebook for more pics and also Liss' blog (part one) and (part two) for some amazing photos she took on her film camera. Look at her lording her film photos over me. You win this time Liss. Haha.
