I am a big fan of freckles. They're so cute. No one should try and cover them up. So let your freckles come out to play!

Dreaded double denim.

Fashion is always evolving and designers are constantly making old trends new again. After watching this weeks Australia's Next Top Model (double denim episode)/ seeing a Pepe Jeans campaign, It made me think about the double denim trend. Yes, the trend that used to been seen as a faux pas.

At first I chose to basically ignore the trend as i didn't take it seriously. I thought that it was a trend that was bound to fall through quickly, or not take at all...Maybe that was wishful thinking. I guess when some trends make a big return to the runways, you wish that you won't see it everywhere. However, everywhere i look there are people wearing double denim in some form or another, as i'm sure you've noticed. I shudder every time i see it. I mean, why on earth did this trend go mainstream...again? I see a lot of "Do's" and "Don'ts", being thrown around when it comes to mixing up pieces of denim to wear. I personally think there most certainly should only be one big don't, DON'T PARTAKE IN THE HORRENDOUS TREND. But that's just me.

I love denim, i wear it all the time. I'm all for chambray shirts, denim shorts, denim dresses, jeans. Just not the idea of wearing them together as an outfit. So, i am resisting the urge to wear double denim.

What are your thought? I'm interested to know!

Love.

1. Camilla Skovgaard shoes: I have mentioned her once before on my blog. However, i wore these at a fashion show last week and fell in love with them. They are AMAZING, the distinctive, jagged soles on these are so eye-catching. They are so soft and just a piece of art. I think a lot of people are sitting on the fence when it comes to her designs, i guess it just comes down to personal taste and style. But for me, they're right down my fashion alley. I enjoy a good pair of shoes, and these are what i call good shoes. Check out this online store for more of her designs.

2. Balenciaga Paris: You should definitely take time to smell this perfume. It is divine. It is very pretty , not the same as every other scent out there . It has a hint of violet, not a strong violet..Just enough to know it's there.

3. Dove-grey nail polish: I love that it's not too dark like every other winter nail polish. Yet it's edgy enough to make a statement. I am a fiend when it comes to nail polish I love it. Always on the look out for a new colour! OPI is my go-to nail polish brand. Anything else i chip and budge within the first hour. Plus you don't need 1,00 coats to build up a good colour!

I thought i would share some of my loves. Have a fantastic night!

Whisper

Starting off today's post with: Me (and my boyfriend) are the proud new owners of a Canon 550D. It's been purchased finally. Words can not describe how excited i am! It's only a matter of time and i will be taking good quality photographs for my blog! Sorry basic point and click, i have moved onto bigger and better things.

With yesterday off, it gave me time to work on a few things (photography, graphics). I really enjoy using different techniques when posting photos for my blog. I really enjoyed doing this header for today's post too. I have never put a photo in a header, so i thought i'd give it a go! I get bored easily, so i like to do things differently quite often. The sun was out when i took the photo, it was glorious. Summer i really do miss you. Though, having said that, as soon as it comes I'll wish it was winter again. I feel like i am never satisfied (laughs at self). What's your favourite season?

I said yesterday, that i had been testing out our new place for lighting and what not. I think i now know when the sun hits our place and what time is best to shoot. At the moment i am thinking up some sweet locations and outfits for outfit/weekend shoots. We still have a lot of stuff to unpack in the spare room, but my boyfriend suggested that when it's all done, that we turn that room into a little studio for me, as well as an  office, where he does all his web development jazz. I got very excited about that prospect!

Stay posted today for the Wednesday ritual that is "HUMP DAY POST!", where i will be posting on something very, very rad!

My new pretty. Next on the the "need to pick up list"..a remote and tripod.

They don't rise up, just descend.

So, with a new place comes new findings. I was used to the lighting and areas around my old apartment. So it has been fun and a challenge to find the right light  for my quick outfit or "new finds posts''. We have a balcony (jumps in excitement) at our new place, which basically has sun all day long . Also in the coming weeks a kickass camera is being purchased (Thank you tax return and the help of my boyfriend).

For those who have been following my blog from the start you know my love of designing unique pieces of apparel. But, for those of you who have only been following lately-I'm sure you will quickly realise this little fact about me. I won't be able to hide it from you.  I could never be stuck in an office job. I would literally go insane. I need to express myself in some way. I am yet to discover what i want to do. But, what i do know is what i don't want to do. I see myself working towards something- I'm only twenty, so i figure i have some time to play.

Here is a little jumper I made. Cute bow right? I have to get back into designing more often. I have been a little slack lately. But, now that i have a few things lifted off my shoulders, i can reorganise my life a little. So expect more.

I thought you deserved two posts today, as you have been ever so patient with me! Also: I have reached 100 posts!!

HEADING AND PHOTOS BY ME

I was a dreamcatcher.

So we meet again. This is all a bit exciting. I thought it was just going to be like this forever (not actually, I was just saying that for the effect. Possibly too dramatic). Apologies first for not writing this past week. Blame my internet provider for not caring.

How have you all been? So, it's already Tuesday. Wow. I go away very soon! I am very excited about my holiday, it's going to be a fun week. I super excited to get back into writing, snapping and  designing! I hope you are just as excited to be able to check out UNKNOWN PLEASURES again, on a daily basis! Thank you to everyone who has still been checking and reading, it makes coming back that little bit more special, as I know I have a reason. UNKNOWN PLEASURES is now being read in 11 Countries! Please, if you already haven't, follow me on BLOGLOVIN'!

Given my obsession with anything Leopard (still), I HAD TO buy these super cute laces for my combat boots. That and they were a measly $1.00. At first i was thinking but what if i need that dollar, maybe it could come in handy. I could buy...then I realised I couldn't buy much, if anything this cool for a dollar. So a short story even shorter, they're now on my shoes.  And they made my already cool boots, cooler. I didn't think that was even possible. I'm on the hunt for vintage Leopard print. I found a few bits and pieces last Friday, but not exactly what i am after!

Hump day post #2

Another amazingly busy/ hectic week is flying by. Hump day already. I will remember this week as something along the lines of ‘my battle of having no internet.’ I have began to realise how much i rely on technology the past few days. As you guys know, i have been moving. The reason why my posts have been lacking is because of the lack of internet i currently have. I can't spend a day with out some form of technology, be it my phone, internet, television...It has been tough. But, I have still managed to live my life...Only just. So here are some links i have stumbled across lately that i wish to share with you.
  • Ffffound.com Never ceases to entertain me.
  • Chocolate cover for your Ipad. It's chocolate. Meaning i had to post on it.
  • A place to shop for sick jewelery.  I could buy so much here.
  • Another funny site which makes you giggle and think twice.
  • Worst photoshop disasters.  There are some shockers.
  • One of my favourite blogs. Easily one of the best blogs out there for finding cool new fashion. Bleach Black.
  • This girl has a crazy, crazy eye for fashion. She makes the coolest shoes. Definitely check out her blog
  • Fashion inspiration by every day people. I love seeing people trying out new things and having the confidence to do so. That is the key to anything.
  • Tim Burton exhibition. Exploring the art and imagination of one of Hollywood’s most unique filmmakers. The Tim Burton exhibition will travel directly to ACMI in Melbourne. Running from June 24 to October 10, 2010, the ACMI exhibition will incorporate additional material from Burton's Alice in Wonderland, which was released in March. What did you think of Alice in Wonderland? I loved Hair, make up, and the costume design.. Not so much the story line.
Hope you all have a fun Wednesday. I'm leaving you with and editorial I love. I love her hair.

Ring-a-ring-a-roses, A pocket full of posies.

Feeling rather girlie today. Florals have a way of brightening your day. I think it's because it's so fresh. I bought this ring yesterday... I love coral. I think it's one of the few colours i wear.

Short post as i have a very busy day ahead of me. SORRY!

Have a good day!

Hump day post #1

Okay, so i am trying out a new thing. Every "hump day", i am going to dedicate my blog post to things i find intriguing/ interesting. These posts may or may not be fashion related...But don't yell at me if they're not, because I may have other interesting things that i wish to share with you. So here you have it, my first "hump day" post for you. I hope you enjoy the new Wednesday ritual. PS- Happy hump day.

A strange message found on sidewalks.

The Toynbee tiles are something i find absolutely fascinating. I first became aware of them last year, and ever since i have wanted to do more, and more research. However, it is very hard to find out information, because quite simply there isn't a great deal.

The Toynbee Titles are cryptic messages found embedded in asphalt in various cities across the United States including Washington DC, Pittsburgh, New York City, Baltimore, Boston, and many more. Some have even shown up in South American countries such as Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. To date, about 130 tiles have been discovered. Somehow, someone is managing to embed these tiles into public roads (some of which are busy 24/7). How they did this without being spotted is beyond me. The messages are believed to be layers of linoleum and asphalt crack-filling compound and they are generally about the size of an American license plate. They are applied to concrete via the heat of the sun and the pressure of car tires, which will eventually wear away reveal their message. I find it so mysterious that no one knows the origin of these tiles or the identity of the artist. It's so frustrating, knowing we will never know. The Toynbee tiles are the biggest guerrilla art movement of our time. It's older than Banksy and has remained unsolved for nearly three decades. The Toynbee Tiles mystery thrives on its own, inspiring speculation and interpretation to this day. And who knows...This may have been the artist's intention. I don't think anyone is ever going to get to the bottom of it.

I hope the strangeness of this made your day more interesting.

I'm counting backwards in your head.

My new shoes arrived today! I was so shocked that they only took 3 days from the United States, considering whenever friends or family send something from New South Wales to Queensland it can take up to a week and a half. I love them. Outfit posts are to come! I didn't get home til late and didn't have enough natural lighting to shoot with.

A funny story comes with the delivery on these little wedges as well. I wasn't home when the delivery man came to my apartment. I live in a large complex, and the ladies and men who work on reception are never helpful. They wouldn't let him leave my package with them, nor would they let him leave a "We visited when you were not at home" slip in my mail box. So the poor delivery man came and found me at work! Such a kind man. I thanked him profusely! He must've known how important a girl shoe addiction is!

Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.

Here is some of Saturday's shoot (following on from yesterdays behind the scene post). This is the grunge aspect of the shoot. I felt like i was a teenager of the 1990's, styled in grunge attire. I embodied the attitude, looked homeless and made the Saturday traffic of Brisbane wonder "what is that girl doing". It was such a fun persona to take on. I got fully into character (Yes, i do "strung out" very well)

If like me you were barely talking or walking in the early 1990's, grunge fashion was essentially a mixture of punk and "outdoor wear". It consisted of plaid shirts, plaid skirts, leggings, oversized jumpers/ shirts, layers, combat boots, denim jackets, torn jeans. The most favoured colours were white, black, red, forest green, indigo, and brown. The clothes sort after by many, were often bought in thrift shops.

I just had a massive realisation when doing research for what was the exact "grunge" fashion. It is sounding all too familiar. I love flannelet shirts and i dress in a lot of those colours and i wear combat boots religiously. I think i am stuck in the 1990's.  Grunge is one of very few styles that can never really die as It's so easily worn, however it's so easy to be taken the wrong way as it tends to look generally unkempt. So, please if you are dressing like this do not look like you live on the streets or like you don't own a brush. It's all about taking aspects of trends and making it work for you.

Hope you like the first look from Saturdays shoot! Keep posted for more to come.
