One of my friends has just been overseas (jealous), and one of the sights she saw whilst in London was the Damien Hirst exhibition (as if going overseas wasn't enough)!
She such a sweetie she bought me back a souvenir of the exhibition - knowing full well how much I adore a good skull. She did mention she tried to teleport me there, but failed so this book had to suffice. Which I am totally thrilled with because I am a child, so no doubt this will give me endless hours of joy/fun etc, etc!
Because I had forgotten how fun flip books were, I thought you may have too, so I made a really quick video (sorry for the iPhone quality)
Thanks Stace! You're the greatest
Dear Dennis, Wow! These are great questions, and I will deal with each of them in my pinoeetatrsn at the conference. But in short, I think that Lady Gaga has a deep understanding of the elements of successful strategy vision, customer and industry insight, understanding of strengths and weaknesses, vigorous implementation and continuous renewal. Her main innovations have been based upon her understanding of what might be termed the sociology of fame' and how to use new technologies (especially social media) to connect with fans. But equally important has been the expertise of Vincent Herbert (CEO of her record label Interscope) and others within her inner circle (also known as House of Gaga) in understanding the new music industry business model, and complimenting Gaga's creative talents with strong commercial support. In terms of competitive advantage, sustainable profitability is based upon one's ability to have resources and capabilities that are valuable, rare in the market, difficult to imitate and difficult to substitute. No competitive advantage is forever, but I think that if we look at Gaga's strategy in these terms, then she is building the foundations for long-term success. Don't forget that her role model Madonna has been able to do this for more than 25 years!
